About Mongolia

Mongolia is a landlocked country located in East Asia, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south, east, and west. It is the 18th largest country in the world with an area of 1,564,116 square kilometers and with a population of around 3.3 million people. Ulaanbaatar is the capital and largest city of Mongolia. The country has a diverse culture, influenced by its nomadic heritage, as well as by Chinese and Russian cultures.

The official language is Mongolian and the country’s main religion is Buddhism. The economy of Mongolia is heavily dependent on agriculture and livestock, but has been growing in recent years, thanks to the development of natural resources such as coal, copper, and gold.

Mongolia has a diverse and rugged terrain that includes mountains, forests, deserts, and grasslands. The Gobi Desert, located in the southern part of the country, is one of the most famous and well-known regions of Mongolia, and is known for its natural beauty and rich history.

The country is also home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the iconic Bactrian camel, the argali sheep, the Gobi bear, and the snow leopard. Mongolia has been an independent country since the early 20th century, after having been ruled by various empires, including the Chinese and the Mongol Empire, the empire led by Chinggis Khan, which was one of the largest contiguous empires in history.
